More than 100 years of innovation and customer service

November 2008 - As part of a broad rebranding initiative, Saft Power Systems becomes AEG Power Solutions. Signaling the successful completion of a three-year consolidation and streamlining program, the company unites its range of DC telecom systems and power supplies under the Harmer & Simmons brand.

June 2008 - Saft Power Systems introduces two new members of the Protect family of central solar inverters – Protect PV 33 and PV 25.
 
June 2008 - Saft Power Systems introduces the Protect MIP – Modular, redundant and scalable rectifier system for all industrial applications.
 
December 2007 - Saft Power Systems introduces the Protect RCS – Reliable Rectifiers, Chargers and DC Systems for all industrial applications, building on the success of its popular SPR/TPR range.
 
December 2006 - Opening of Harmer & Simmons in India.
 
November 2006 - Saft Power Systems expands its range of temperature-hardened, embedded power solutions with the SM2000 rectifier and MP60-Series system sub-racks.
 
June 2006 - Inauguration of first Chinese manufacturing facility, in Beijing.
 
July 2005 - Globalizing its strategy and structure, Saft Power Systems restructures into worldwide business units to offer a global range of solutions and service.  
 
January 2005 - SAFT Power Systems group, the power systems division of Alcatel, is acquired by Ripplewood Holdings, a respected private equity firm active in the U.S., Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Bruce Brock and the members of the Brock Group are named as the senior management team. The Saft Power Systems group consists of units of Saft Power Systems, AEG Power Supply Systems and Harmer & Simmons. 
 
2002 - Merger of SAFT Power Systems with Alcatel Converters creates a world leader in power conversion technologies and complete power solutions.
 
1998 - Acquisition of AEG SVS Power Supply Systems GmbH (Germany). SAFT Power Systems reinforces its UPS systems product portfolio and position in Germany and Eastern Europe through the acquisition of the AEG power supply division.
 
1995 - Acquisition of Harmer + Simmons Ltd (United Kingdom). The acquisition of one of Britain’s oldest and most respected telecom power supply specialists propels SAFT Power Systems into a world leader in telecom power systems and switchmode technology.
 
1995 - AEG PSS introduces first UPS in the world with 100% digital control: Protect 3.
 
1993 - Opening of Malaysian manufacturing facility in Penang.
 
1992 - Creation of Alcatel Converters: Alcatel creates a technology leader in custom DC/DC and AC/DC converters by consolidating its power conversion activities.
 
1992 - Acquisition of NIFE Group (Sweden). SAFT Power Systems strengthens its international presence and widens its product portfolio.
 
1985 - AEG introduces first Profitec S rectifier with IBGT transistors (single and three phase).
 
1981 - Acquisition of RSI (France): SAFT Power Systems expands its telecom power systems activity.
 
1972 - Development of first 5/25 switching power supply by AEG PSS.
 
1969 - Development of power controllers by AEG PSS.
 
1965 - Development of three-phase thyristor AC converter by AEG PSS.
 
1961 - Development of single-phase thyristor AC converter by AEG Power Supply Systems.
 
1947 - Establishment of SAFT Power Systems. Leveraging its proven expertise in battery technology, SAFT expands its product portfolio with a range of innovative battery chargers and power systems.
 
1945 - Creation of AEG plant in Warstein-Belecke, Germany with 25 employees.
 
1927 - Harmer & Simmons establishes in the UK. Initially manufacturing sound amplifiers, the company soon becomes a telecom power supply expert.
 
1917 - Establishment of Saft as a battery manufacturer in France.
 
1887 - Creation of AEG as the German equivalent of General Electric.
